Revive’s essential oil kid safe line overview
Back at it again with another over view of a kids line of oils. This time we are going to be going over Revives kid safe line, which is substantially smaller than Plant Therapy’s. I’m fairly certain that plant Therapy has the largest kid safe line actually. Revive is an oil company that I do enjoy and trust, they are however not my favorite and they tend to share some essential oil misinformation online, like stating that you can ingest essential oils by adding them to a glass of water. Unfortunately that is not so great advice, which is concerning as an essential oil company that is becoming quite popular. I don’t have a lot of experience using revive, I have a few of their oils but I never tried any of their kids line personally. I can only offer an objective overview of what I can find online, do with that what you may but please note that I am certainly not the end all be all. This information is simply an opinion based on how I was taught and what I learned, and it’s only a guide to help support someone in choosing essential oils for their family and which ones to use on their children.
I will specifically be going over their blends and any rollers that go along with these blends, much in the same process of plant therapy’s I will go through the blend thoroughly and go over the rollers as a whole and talk about the dilutions.
Safe & Calm: Douglas Fir, Lavender, Pettigrain, Wild orange, Roman Chamomile, Vetiver and CO2 Vanilla
So all in all this one seems to check out however I do not see an age recommendation for the kid safe line anywhere on their site. Their is also CO2 Vanilla and while Vanilla is regarded as safe for children I am not sure how the CO2 oil varies and I would take caution with using this on on kids. Overall, it checks out and it’s safe for all ages but guidelines and dilutions still apply.
First aid friend: Lavender, Helichrysum, Tea Tree, Cistus and Roman Chamomile
Right off the bat something that is super concerning to me is they don’t list the Latin names for any of the plants in this oil. So it lists Helichrysum however it does not specify WHICH one, and there is one that is only safe ages 10+ so there isn’t a way to know if this indeed kid safe without first receiving the oil. Helichrysum angustifolium or Helichrysum stoechas are the safe versions. So if it the safe one, this is good for all ages properly diluted and following guidelines. If not, then I wouldn’t use it. But there isn’t a way to know without ordering or contacting them. This is also a prediluted oil, however you would need to contact revive for the actual dilution but it’s definitely an oil for targeted use not daily use.
Germ away: Hemlock Spruce, Sweet Marjoram, Lavender, Rosalina and Lemon
Overall this one checks out, safe for all ages and no concerns. I do want to remind everyone though that I don’t recommend using oils until at least 3 months and always test individual oils before using them or using a new blend. Less is more, take it slow and keep the oil usage to 2-3 single oils max. Just because something is safe for all ages doesn’t mean we need to overdo it, and please always follow dilutions and guidelines for oils for the appropriate age.
Brain Time: Grapefruit, Lavender, Vetiver, Lime, Orange, Atlas Cedarwood, Pink Pepper, Spearmint, Sandalwood, Geranium and Osmanthus flower
Again, checks out for the most part. It’s all kid safe however I do wish they would give the Latin names online. I can’t say for certain which Sandalwood or Geranium they use. While in this blend it doesn’t make much of a difference, and I know the Latin names are on the bottles but it would be nice to see that online as well. It’s not a huge deal, I just like to know what exactly is going into the bottles before purchasing.
Upon further inspection there doesn’t seem to be any rollers that go along with the kids line. So their kids line consists of those 4 oils. All in all I don’t see any huge red flags with this line, I probably wouldn’t use these on babies, I like to keep baby oil usage at a minimum and use more mild ones. But this is a pretty safe kids line for ages 2+ which is a good age to start introducing a larger variety of oils. If you do chose to use these blends on someone younger just be sure to test the individual oils in the blend first, and again I can’t be entirely sure CO2 oils are completely safe as they are a different make up than traditional essential oils.
But I don’t hate this line, and as a whole revive is a pretty good company to purchase essential oils from. Just be sure to follow dilutions and guidelines and please don’t ingest essential oils despite what revive might recommend on their site. And again, if there are any doubts it’s best to not use them. With any questions or concerns reach out to an aromatherapist (hey that’s me, you can hit my up on my social media pages) or contact Revive, they are usually very good at answer questions honestly and have no issues disclosing dilution rates at all.
