Plant Therapy Kid Safe Line Overview

For the sake of time and also my sanity I am only going to be reviewing the blends, because with the comprehensive list of essential oils that are safe for pregnancy/nursing and children you can double check on if a single oil is safe. So I will be focusing my attention on the blends and roll ons, going over what is in them and if they are child safe and diluted properly.

Please note that some of these will naturally be safe for all ages but they still need to be tested as individual oils first AND properly diluted before applying to skin.

Plant therapy provides a kid line consisting of blends, singles and roll ons (pre-diluted) for ages 2-10 and they mark each kid safe oil with a prominent kid safe labeling on the front of the bottles. They have several options, and the largest kid line that I have actually seen stretching from first aid, concentration, emotional support all the way down to fun holiday blends as well. Let’s take a look into these blends and see what we think.

I would also like to add that some of these got discontinued before I finished but I am leaving them in just in case someone has them or if they ever come back. And I tried to link everything I could but many hours and months later I am not as concerned over linking ingredients as I am linking the actual products.

Blends

True to advertising this oil is indeed safe for kids 2-10, on top of that its an oil that can be safe for all ages topical and through inhalation when properly diluted (for skin). Although I wouldn’t recommend using a study time oil on babies as there isn’t really a need.

This oil also checks out, true to the ages 2-10 and this also is one that can be used on any ages as well when properly diluted.

Safe for recommended ages 2-10 and also safe for all ages as well when properly diluted

Safe for the recommended ages and also safe for all ages when properly diluted

Safe for the recommended ages 2-10, technically safe for all ages however I would strongly advise against dropping anything into a baby’s ear unless directed by a doctor. I also encourage anyone to ask a doctor before using this on younger children as well, especially toddlers.

Safe for the recommended ages and also safe for all ages when properly diluted

True to recommendations this is an oil safe for ages 2-10 however I do not think that this oil would be good for all ages as it contains Geranium Bourbon and that wasn’t one that I came across as all ages safe, while Geranium is generally all ages safe I am unsure and this would be a parents judgement call.

Safe for the recommended ages 2-10, I do not believe this would be one safe for all ages however since it contains a CO2 of Turmeric and while Turmeric is all ages safe I do not know if the CO2 of Turmeric is safe. Better to be safe and not use until the age of 2.

Indeed safe for the recommended ages, as well as safe for all ages

  • Hello Morning: Citrus Paradisi (Pink Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) Fruit Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon SD) Peel Oil, Abies Balsamea (Balsam Fir) Needle Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Peel Oil, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil, Cedrus Atlantica (Atlas Cedarwood) Wood Oil, Santalum Spicata (Australian Sandalwood) Wood Oil

Indeed safe for the ages of 2-10, however as it contains Lemon SD I can not definitively say that it would be safe for all ages so best to avoid this one for younger babes. Lemon of all forms is considered safe for all ages so this would be a judgment call.

  • Hocus Focus: Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime SD) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Peel Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Flower Oil, Cedrus Atlantica (Atlas Cedarwood) Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Petitgrain) Leaf/Twig Oil, Vetiveria Zizanoides (Vetiver) Root Oil

Safe for the ages 2-10 as promised, I would not recommend this one for anyone under 2 however as again it contains Lime SD and I just can not say for sure that it would be safe for anyone younger. Lime of all forms is considered safe for all ages so this would be a judgement call.

Indeed safe for the ages 2-10, however as it contains Copiaba Oleorsesin I can not definitively say it is safe for all ages. As Copiaba is one that is generally considered safe this one would be a judgement call.

Definitely safe for the targeted age group 2-10, however that CO2 is also present in this one and I can’t say for sure if if it would be safe.

  • Knockin’ noggin: Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Peel Oil, Eucalyptus Dives Leaf/Twig Oil, Boswellia Carterii (Frankincense) Gum Oil, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Lavandula Intermedia (Lavandin) Flower/Leaf/Stem Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Neroli) Flower Oil

Safe for 2-10 as promised and also safe for all ages

Safe for the 2-10 age range and also for all ages when properly diluted, this is one we use regularly on my 1 year old and she loves it. Mamma loves it too.

Safe for 2-10 and for all ages when properly diluted.

Safe for 2-10 as promised, again though I am unsure on the geranium variation. While Geranium is generally recommended as safe this would be a judgement call on the parents part.

  • Poop Ease: Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile Roman) Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Copaifera Officinalis (Balsam Copaiba) Resin Oil, Carum Carvi (Caraway) Seed Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Leaf Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Santalum Spicata (Sandalwood Australian) Wood Oil

Safe for 2-10 as well as all ages when properly diluted

Quiet Cough: Lemon SD, Douglas Fir, Balm Mint Bush, Cypress, LavenderFrankincense, Cardamom, Spearmint, Bourbon Geranium

I didn’t see an age recommendation for this one however generally speaking it’s safe for all ages. I am only unsure on the balm mint so I would recommend only using on ages 2+ and it also contains the Lemon SD while lemon is generally safe this one is also a judgement call.

Safe for 2-10, however with the variation of Geranium I am unsure and this would be a judgement call for the parent.

Safe for the ages of 2-10, again contains the Copiaba I do not know for sure is all ages safe so this is a judgment call.

Safe for ages 2-10 and also all ages, Geranium Egyptian was not one I did come across in my searching though however I do recall it being safe for all ages- use a judgment call with this one.

Safe ages 2-10, and also safe for all ages (when properly diluted)  using the judgment call with the Geranium Egyptian

Safe for ages 2-10 and all ages when properly diluted

Safe for ages 2-10, and all ages (when properly diluted) with the judgment call on the Geranium Egpytian

Safe for ages 2-10 and all ages when properly diluted

  • Sweet slumber: Cedrus Deodara (Himalayan Cedarwood) Wood Oil, Cinnamomum Camphora (Ho) Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Peel Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Flower Oil, Vetiveria Zizanoides (Vetiver) Root Oil

Safe for ages 2-10 and all ages when properly diluted

Safe for ages 2-10, unsure on the Geranium variation so use judgment call. However I probably wouldn’t use this one on younger babes at least until the can tell you they have a headache

Safe for ages 2-10 and also for all ages when properly diluted

Roll ons

For the sake of time i’m going to just review the roll ons as a whole and let you know if I see any concerns.

So most of the rollers are formulated for ages 2-10 and at either a 2% or 3% Dilution rate which I would say is pretty much on parr with what is recommended. I wouldn’t recommend getting these rollers for daily use however, as that dilution rate is quite high for a child to be used daily. You are much better off getting the bottle and diluting yourself to .5%-1% for daily uses.

The one that does concern me is the itch away roller, as it does not seem to be diluted at all. They didn’t list the dilution this one, and upon asking I was told it was 5% which for targeted us on adults (Not daily) it’s okay but for kids that seems a little high, and I would honestly just buy the mix and dilute yourself.

Better than kisses is also at a 5% which is fairly concerning to me as well. Again for targeted us this is not the worst thing but anyone wanting a daily roller its just best to buy and make your own dilutions.

However the most concerning to me is No More Warts At a WHOPPING 50% dilution rate, and I realize that this one is definitely for targeted use I would be extremely careful with this one as it contains lemon and lemon is a phototoxic oil and has a max dilution of  2%. Upon inquiring I was told that the lemon is at a 3% dilution for the whole thing, while its not the worst in the world its definitely higher than the 2% max and I would just be EXTREMELY careful using this one when you or your child will be in sunlight.

All in all the kid safe line from Plant Therapy seems to check out, since they are run by aromatherapists they tend to align more with what top aromatherapists say, when using kid products I highly recommend that everyone follow the guidelines they have set in place especially for age. While some of the oils may be safe for all ages, it is best to take a bit of caution when using oils with children. Less is more, follow dilutions and follow the age guidelines set aside by plant therapy specifically. If you feel that you want to use one of these blends on a younger child reach out to an aromatherapist before hand and get all questions/concerns answered before use. Sometimes a singular oil is much safer than a blend. As always feel free to reach out to me through my contact form or on any of my linked social media. I am more than happy to help out or answer any questions. And plant therapy also has an amazing support team if you have any questions on their line as well.

As always, please take caution using oils on your children and if there are any doubts better to avoid an oil rather than risk an adverse reaction. Some of the oils I had looked over had more uncommon oils that I am unsure would be safe for younger kids, which I stated would be a judgment call. However you can almost always find a suitable replacement for something if there are doubts on using it. I would recommend following the age guidelines with this line and opt for something that is safe for little ones. And please not while an oil can be safe for all ages I do not recommend using oils on babes younger than 3 months, or even using a lot of oils on babies in general. My personal use for oils was 6 months + with my first and we didn’t use any blends on her until she was 1. When using oils on children follow dilution guidelines exactly, you can find a really great chart online with plant therapy. I linked the one you can buy and I know they have one on their blog that highlights dilution by age so definitely search that up and check it out.
