Essential Oil Resources You Can Trust

I get asked all the time which resources are the best? Which ones can I trust? How do I know what is good advice?

First, anything or anyone following the NAHA is probably a good bet. But it is easy to throw out some websites and call it a day, so I will also break down my sources and favorite books that I like to use. I am only going to include ones I think you are actually worth the time and money, while I personally have so many books on my shelf they aren’t all winners and I only want to share ones that are affordable and worth it.

Online options:

  • The Tisserand Institute- They offer a lot of free advice, run a blog and even share to social media a lot. While they do have course for anyone, you don’t have to take them to learn something about essential oils. I do recommend taking some classes though, it’s fun and informative.

  • Plant Therapy- I know they sell oils but they do really know their stuff. If you want essential oils that are correctly labeled as well as a blog run by aromatherapists this is your go to. They have a lot of resources and share a lot. They do social media and Youtube as well. I love how much they share.

  • Simply Earth- This is my all time favorite company. They make learning about oils fun and safe. They have free and low cost options to learn and they also share to social media and Youtube. All of their oils are also marked correctly and safely. Plus 13% of all proceeds go to help end human trafficking, which is pretty amazing in my book.

  • Aromahut- This is where I took my certification and where I am doing my clinical but they also have a Youtube channel that shares pertinent information on essential oils that I find very useful. They meet the NAHA standards and are a NAHA approved school.

Beginner Books:

All of these books are beginner friendly and a good place to start if you don’t know anything about essential oils or are unsure about essential oils. The last one is my book, and I actually beg you to bear with me for another month or two while I am having it formally edited and properly publish. The contents are good, my writing (more so my grammar) is less good and I have now sent it to be formally edited by someone who is not dyslexic. It will be available to purchase from shop as an ebook very soon though and will definitely be an improvement. Please keep an eye out for it.

Books for Those Who are Familiar with Essential Oils

Now, while I don’t necessarily agree with every single thing in these books, I don’t see anything that I believe is particular unsafe. Some of the suggestions for internal use I would recommend reaching out to someone trained first, but altogether these books are useful and based in facts. They are great to have on hand to grow your knowledge and begin to blend oils and use them therapeutically in your life.

Advanced books/books for a medical background

All of these books were designed with the health professional in mind, they can be a little harder to digest for someone not in the medical field or aromatherapy field but they are still incredibly useful. They are incredibly helpful and detailed especially in regards to someone in the medical field. You do not have to be in the medical field to use these books though, and while the tisserand book is pretty heavy and hard to read, all of these books are wonderful options for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge and dive deep into the world of essential oils.
